| Who Gets What? | ||

Obviously, whenever you buy a house you get both the house and the property beneath it. If your home is not connected to a utility companies's water and sewage, you may also get your own well and septic tank. Who gets the furnishings when a house is sold?Most of the time, any kind of fixture that is permanently attached to a house for instance drapery rods and window coverings, built-in bookcases, |
installed carpeting / vinyl / ceramic / wood, lighting fixtures, automatically stay with the house unless it is specified otherwise in the sales contract. But you can also consider anything that is not "attached" to the house negotiable. Most of the time, it involves appliances and things that are not built in such as a washer & dryer, refrigerator or above ground pool. |
Sometimes sellers are open to negotiating for other items, such as furniture and other pieces. A good rule of thumb is if it can not be moved freely then it's part of the house. But you always want to check with your Realtor first to be sure.
